Yeah, it was fun except that it took a little too long for my tastes. Read in BGG that the lengthy game syndrome (due to Regent not being picked) isn't a problem in 6-player games simply because by the time the Black hole appears and the Scientist Role is removed, there are exactly 6 roles left, thus ensuring that the Regent role is picked once per round and the VPs drained significantly every round.

That said, I've raised a Variant suggestion to simulate this in games with less than 6 players - simply remove the Regent role when the Black hole turns up and perform it at the end of every round. The lagging player (determined by who has the least number of empire tokens on the board, if 2+ players tie then the player who picked a role last is considered the lagging player) gets the advantage of the Regent.

This should shorten the game by quite a bit.
