Tuesday 5th January
Does anyone know if Billabong is happening this Tuesday?
Re: Tuesday 5th January
Yes, it's happening-- it's quite rare that it doesn't happen.
It's at amaroo neighbourhood house, in chadstone
Amaroo Neighbourhood Centre
34 Amaroo St
Chadstone VIC 3148
(03) 9807 2625
Link: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&sour ... 4741669524
Its starts at 7pm (or a few minutes after). If you get there much before 7, you may find the doors locked, I'm not sure anything else is happening there yet. We have a key, so it will be open.
Depending on numbers, at least some of us generally we play a few fillers to start with, because some people can't make it right on 7, and we don't want them to have to wait around to join in a game. If you are going to be much after 7, text me (0425 830 996), so we can make sure to wait for you before starting anything long.
We normally play to 11, or sometimes a bit later (to finish a game). The last few week, there's been 2-3 tables going.
My username on bgg is gmcnish-- you can look over my collection; I'm happy to bring most things along.
It's 2$/night, but your first session is free!
Hope you guys enjoyed yourself today, nice gaming with you!

Re: Tuesday 5th January
Cheers on the info, Gregor! Sam and I both enjoyed ourselves yesterday at EGF - thanks for being so patient with us!
I had a quick squiz at your list on BGG - I'd be interested in Army of Frogs, The Bridges of Shangri-La and Antiquity, but happy to play anything really! Sam's not fussed either.
We'll make sure we get there at 7 or as close to 7 as we can!

ok, i'll bring bridges and army of frogs. Antiquity i'd have to learn first, but maybe some other time.

Re: Tuesday 5th January
I had a look at some of the photos of Antiquity on BGG, and it seems quite involved...

Re: Tuesday 5th January
Its very rare for Billabongers to organise a game before hand, but having just returned from holidays I'm very keen to play Tahuantinsuyu.
Anyone up for it?
Its a longer game than the usual BBG fare so we would need to start promptly and keep the pace up.
(Gregor, noticed you're flogging this off. Care to play my copy instead?

Re: Tuesday 5th January
I'm tempted by Tahua; really liked the game. Billabong numbers have been erratic though, so I wouldn't want to start too early and leave people without a game. Could we finish if we started at 8, or is it risky?
I'll reread the rules today.

8pm start should be fine.

Tahuantinsuyu looks good. Sam or I could play if you're short of players (and if you're happy to teach rules).
Re: Tuesday 5th January
Happy to teach it, but as mentioned above we will need to get into it promptly and keep the game moving or we'll still be there at midnight. That doesn't daunt you hopefully.

Gregor, I now know what you meant by "some other time" re: Antiquity.gregor wrote:Antiquity i'd have to learn first, but maybe some other time.
Re: Tuesday 5th January
if you're up for antiquity we could give it a go. Doubt we'd finish it, but we'd at least understand it better. I still havent played it, or indonesia, for that matter.

Re: Tuesday 5th January
Sam and I won't be able to make it to ConVic, unfortunately... Father's Day weekend - one family on Saturday, the other on Sunday! It's been some time since we made it to Billabong, so we'll try and come this week! Not sure if we'll make it to EGF tomorrow though.
We've only played Indonesia twice. It's a bit fiddly in terms of keeping track of the hull capacity of the shipping companies and working out what good has sailed on which shipping line, and it's annoying that the production company chits and city markers are bigger than most of the regions so it can be a bit confusing where things sit, but that said, I enjoyed it.
We've been up close and personal with Antiquity (but haven't played it), and boy there are lots of famine chits! Maybe it's more of an EGF game than a Billabong time-wise.
