EGF june 7th.

Post by intheclear » Mon May 25, 2009 11:47 pm

Looks like we may have the room to ourselves as the bridge players haven't had a good support lately. So they have cancelled their group on Sundays, so sad. Seeya all there. David.

Is it worth having EGF every Sunday? Just asking What do you think?
(not promising anything as I haven't asked owners yet).

June 7th is the weekend of BorderCon, yes? So no make-up date for EGF?

Oh well. Guess I'll see everyone in July.

Should we move EGF to this Sunday (31/5) to avoid conflict (war!) with Bordercon? Or the following week (14/6)?

The issue of Border Con was highlighted in http://www.melbournegamers.com/viewtopic.php?t=871

So some cannot make it, thats the way it goes. We played first weekend in January, despite New Years, so why is this any different ? I don't think it is.

As for more regular, we need to be careful, as some of our success may be that we are only the first Sunday of the month, meaning people will plan ahead to make it. Hold the group more often and you may dilute the strength of only one feature event each month.

There are other groups, all far smaller, that meet more regularly which may be why they are smaller, lacking the special focus. Just my two cents worth.

I'll be there June 7.

Rather than weekly EGF we could think about fortnightly, say 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.

EGF for sun 7th june will still go ahead, despite Bordercon, it has been supported before with conflicting events, hope to see all there.

Still need more input for more regular gaming of EGF!!!! thx so far, remember this is still just an idea.

I'm happy with the once a month myself; I'm more likely to see more people. Diluting the group is a very real possibility-- that's what happened to Billabong, attendance dropped sharply when we went to weekly.

Course I'd still try to make it myself if it were more often. :)

Of course one thing to consider is the current problems with the size of the accomodation at the NAB building for Dockers on Thursdays, if EGF did go weekly or bi-weekly it may well attract people as an alternative to Dockers.

Hey westgarth you can grab a key if Dave approves, moosehead has got one so there's a fair chance it will open on time. I'm happy with fortnightly or weekly, but can't always make it if that's the case.

I can guarantee that I'll be on time if I decide to go - generally my Sundays are free but sometimes I don't feel up to it. How many keys/keyholders do we have at the moment?
