EGF November

Post by melissa » Wed Oct 29, 2008 8:03 am

I will be there, but probably not until about noon (the Bigster has German class until 11.30).

I will be bringing as many of the new Essen games as I can manage. If you have interest in anything in particular, please ask.

Most of my games (well, 4-5 boxes of them) are following by post. I expect them to be here by December.

For now, I have at least the following. Please request if you would like to try a particular title. If there's anything else, let me know - it may not be on the pile I can see right now.

I did not try many games at Essen so most of these were bought on buzz or on buy-before-you-try, at least.

Le Havre - played, can teach
Palais Royale / Royal Palace - played, can teach
Ghost Stories
Sylla
Krakow 1325AD
Dominion
Princes of Machu Picchu
Space Alert
Bobby Sitter
Duck Dealer
Name of the rose (German, minimal text on 6 event cards only)
Medievalia
Bulp
Black stories
2 Japanese card games (Make you gunfighters and something else)
Familys
Bysanz (nice card game, played this)
Beep Beep
Aia Gaia
Quick (nicie card game, tried this)
kakerlaken salat/cockroach salad
kakerlaken suppe / cockroach soup
manimals (all 4 that can be combined, plus the dinosaurs one that can't)
sushizock iim gockelwok
mehr oder weniger
voll verladen
flaschenteufel (not a new release)
street paintball (can teach this too, or the kids can)
4-6 Settlers Scenarios
33 1/3 powerplant
a Duel in the Dark expansion
Agricola seasons postcard
Agricola x deck in French and German (not sure if I have it in English)

plus some more adlung card games

Definitely want to try:

La Harve

Anything new really.

OT but anyone else going to Armageddon this weekend?

Man, I'm intensely curious about how Space Alert will play. I can't see it as something we'd regularly play at a gaming event, but it sure looks fun!

Someone needs to bring a CD player for Space Alert...

The last three years of Essen saw these space-related games that garnered much hype:

2008: Space Alert
2007: Galaxy Trucker
2006: Space Dealer

Maybe we need to design one ourselves for next year?

Very nice! I'm so jealous. Must hear your Essen report. Happy to pick up doubles of games you might have. See you soon!

Erm, geeky comic/sci-fi/pop culture convention at Geoff's Shed this weekend.

I'm going for the comics stuff. Jim Lee is going to be there!

It takes a frenchman to design a game themed on movies I grew up with? :-)

I'll play that.

A tip - you'll need a CD player, and someone who is well across the rules to play the captain and communications officer! You could get by with a stopwatch, and someone reading off the scenario cards.

I haven't played it yet (or have it yet), but I've read the rules a few times. Very funny stuff ... the game looks a hoot.
