Lost Valley 2nd Ed + Expansion (Kickstarter)

Post by ludo » Sat Sep 15, 2012 5:36 pm

Greetings all-

Pandasaurus Games have launched a Kickstarter campaign for the new edition of Lost Valley. This includes reworked rules, expanded pieces so that up to six people can play, and the Yukon Valley expansion which adds extra options.

Lost Valley is one of my favourite games. It works at both strategic and tactical levels, there is variable gameplay, and a sense of storytelling. And it looks fantastic. Pandasaurus Games are producing the new edition of Tammanay Hall, which I have already supported. Their communication and customer service have been great. I'm sure they will do an excellent job with Lost Valley.

Obviously, I will get a copy of Lost Valley 2nd Ed. Is anyone else interested? I can order 1 copy for $85, or 2 for $140 and then split the cost - takers? It is possible that Lost Valley will be available through shops, and it might be at a lower price... but then again, maybe not.

So let me know if you are interested. Please be sure though!

Rob S

Hi Rob,
I only saw your posting a couple of days ago, but Gregor had beaten me to the draw. I believe the only time(s) I played LV was with you and Gregor (and Erin and Cathy), and really liked it but was of course disappointed when it couldn't be found anywhere afterwards.
Now looking forward to seeing the new edition - my friend Rachel and I have also signed up for a double pack (she'd already ordered a copy of Tammany Hall as well).
Too bad so many of the other options were not for overseas orders.

Thanks again for the headsup.

Does anyone else want to go in for a double with me?

Yes!

Who will make the order for the two pack? You or me?

I've just made the order now. Where are you located by the way?

Hi all,
The estimated delivery for this was April 2013, i.e., about now. Anyone heard any news about how it's going?

Edit:
Answering my own question here. This is the latest update I can see from the Kickstarter site, with links to previous updates available as well:

Looks like it won't be immediately, maybe not this month, but shouldn't be too much longer. :D

Here's another update, the latest. It has no news about a release date, but shows some of the revised artwork.

Here is the current 'latest' update on LV.
Be sure you are wearing your fire-retardant underwear when you click the link, there is a lot of flame going on here, and I'm not talking about the Great Fire of London. :smt004

Anyone want to comment here on the comments?
Cheers.

Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

All I see is a lot of hot air - people who expect instant gratification getting their whinge on. Based on the gorgeous Tam-Hall reprint, I am perfectly happy to wait until Nathan says it's ready.

What cheeses me off is that there's no international shipping option for Firenze...

OK, latest from Pandasaurus is that boxes of games are on the way to the US for distribution, they will supposedly go through US customs within the next 2 weeks. Then our copies will go to Amazon and get sent to Australia. Sounds like they should arrive by the end of April.

But I no-longer believe any of his claims about dates - they are written on smoke. I do retain my faith in the product - it will be a great game, presented beautifully...

...when it finally shows up!

Another update - some of the US copies are in the mail, Canadian copies are somewhere on a truck heading vaguely towards a post office, European copies will take a while longer (but it has been a learning experience)...

...and the "rest of the world" (i.e. us) are getting copies hand-posted once he has (a) constructed the mailing boxes, (b) printed the address labels, (c) worked-out what to pay for shipping, (d) received a supply of games to send to us.

Sigh

NB: I am still confident it will be great, and I would have been happy with this timeframe. But this slow dribble of seemingly fatuous update is irritating out of all proportion.

What cheeses me off now is that I bought Firenze months ago.
