Bringing Caverna - The Cave Farmers Thu 30th

Post by Gavin » Mon Jan 27, 2014 1:11 pm

Hey guys,

I am going to bring Caverna - The Cave Farmers along this week. It is Uwe Rosenberg's latest game and has been described as Agricola 2.0. If anyone is interested it plays up to 7 (though I'd probably play with 5). It runs about half an hour per player plus teaching time. I have not played Agricola myself, but the games I have played of this have been very entertaining. I have heard that it is super easy to teach to Agricola players, but if you havent played Agricola you may want to check out the rules prior.

See you all Thursday

I'll be making my first appearance at Dockers tomorrow. Have been wanting to play this as well. Hopefully I can join in!

Just about anything plays better than Agricola..... well almost anything.

I had the privilege of learning it at the hand of Kerrin and am prepared to give it another go which is more than I would say for the game which should not be uttered.

Was excellent to come along tonight - I am certainly interested to see how the Dark Moon prototype comes along - it was very interesting for the first half, and perhaps a bit too long subsequent to that.

I must offer an apology too, I noticed after getting home that I had apparently managed to walk in some dog crap so if there was a smell of poo it was possibly coming from my shoes, sorry!

Looking forward to coming along as regularly as I can, although to grab something to eat on the way in would seem to be a reasonable suggestion, so we don't have to bail early.

Glad to hear you had fun.

Personally i quite enjoyed Caverna as well, and the brutal game of Avalon at the pub afterwards :smt021

After browsing the forums on BGG apparently I have either missed or misinterpreted a few rules.

-When you 'Furnish a Dwelling' you are indeed allowed to choose any of the Orange Dwellings. The only time you cannot do this is the level 11 adventure reward that allows you to build a 'Dwelling' for 2 wood 2 stone.

-You can indeed have 2 stables in a double pasture to increase its occupancy to 16.

I just plain missed the second rule, but I searched the rulebook for an answer to the 'Furnish a Dwelling' question and iit was totally ambiguous. Ahh well, we know for next time.

I don't think that would have greatly affected the 2 games I've played
