Happy New Year everybody, and hold onto your hats.......its time for the Second Annual DOCKERS GAME OF THE YEAR AWARD!!! :smt026

Similar to last year, this is based on number of plays (not personal favourites) as per my record keeping over at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/plays/byda ... /boardgame.

This year I have also cross referenced the games with the listed 'Playing Time' as per Board Game Geek.
NOTE: I did edit a few of them which just didn't seem right - I mean seriously Eclipse in 120 minutes, how??

And so on with the Awards:

GAME OF THE YEAR - FILLER :smt041
Criteria: Up to 45 minutes Playing Time

Honourable Mentions

- San Juan
- Smash Up
- Shadow Hunters
- Tsuro - Won hands down for sheer number of plays

GAME OF THE YEAR: :smt023
Criteria: 60-90 Minutes Playing Time

Alien Frontiers

Honourable Mentions

- Hansa Tuetonica - Backing up last years win, Hansa actually had the same number of plays as Alien Frontiers - but the points decision was based on BGG listing Hansa as less playing time
- Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar
- Innovation
- Troyes

GAME OF THE YEAR - BIG ONES :smt041
Criteria: Playing Time of 2 hours or more

Merchants & Marauders

Honourable Mentions

- Core Worlds
- Eclipse
- Age of Industry

As a new award this year we also have:
GAMES THAT MIGHT HAVE GONE CLOSE IF DAN HADN'T SOLD THEM :smt064

- Village
- Francis Drake (Billabong scored quite well on this one)
- Ginkgopolis

And in keeping with tradition its important to honor:

TURKEY OF THE YEAR :smt078

The Agents

Despite it being a well funded Kickstarter and having what appeared to be a cool game mechanic, we were sadly unable to find the secret - so bad that my printer refused to print in colour, and just made it that horrible "I'm out of ink" green

For the record, Billabong Boardgamers does not maintain a collection of their own. EGF bought it and by arrangement, would be more than happy to entertain a loan system for a likeminded group such as dockers.

Apologies Sol, a slip of the keyboard. Maybe I had a little too much to drink last night :whist:

Well done Adrian. Fun to see and also quite surprising.

My own winners were Yomi or maybe Glory to Rome, Troyes, and Mage Knight by the same method of judging. I should probably just stop buying and play those. But then again I would lose the honour of having my own category :)

I would also note that Tsuro is an activity and not a game

I can't believe i havent played Yomi yet (there may have been a few games of this at Dockers which didnt make my count).

Mage Knight - ah yes : the game you almost sold.

Maybe I shouldve had a category for suprise gem of the year in Bicycle Race as well....or is that also only an activity.
