In case there is any confusion Gamers@Dockers will again be at Good Games this Thursday (23rd May).

However I might be a bit late tonight as I am off to visit the Manager at Crown to check out a function room they are offering us.

And to finalise this thread in the short to medium term.

Gamers@Dockers will continue to be at Good Games for the foreseeable future.

Details (directions, etc) have been updated in this stickyhttp://www.melbournegamers.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1503

We will keep an eye out for other venues or the return of NAB, and keep you posted of any updates.

No joy with that Crown proposal then?

Crown were happy to host and quite accomodating, unfortunately the tables in the area provided were very small and round and unsuitable for board gaming.

Good games is fine, personally don't mind the 11pm curfew, however as parking is an issue more people walk in , which means less people bringing games is all.

Update on NAB Building.

I went to 800 Bourke for work today and the rooms we used to use remain closed off to the public for the staff shop thingy.

The new section at the front of NAB does have some public rooms - however they appear locked, so unless somebody has better contacts than me at the NAB (mine don't work in that building - we just met there) I don't know how you gain access to them - perhaps they need to be booked with security.

And in an interesting twist - after Good Games closed at 10:30 again last Thursday we stumbled accross a slightly dodgy bar a couple of doors down called 'Sports Club' (next to 377 Lonsdale Street - downstairs).

It was pretty empty, with quite a few large tables, $5 beers and open til 1am. The owner didnt seem to mind us coming along on a regular basis for some gaming (provided we bought a few beers) as the place was pretty dead on a weeknight. The only drawback was the very "weird" :? music they insisted on playing (although they did turn it down from time to time).

Got in a good couple of games to finish off the evening nicely. The music might not be to everybodies (or anybodies ) taste but certainly a good enough option to allow the gaming to continue.

Soon we may be called Gamers@Dockers@Good@Sports

Well that music would at least make Hansa Teutonica a bit more lively

Looks like a few weeks of playing Hansa Teutonica with the Asian version of Barbie-World are coming up

Ear-plugs wouldn't be a problem for HT, would they?

So, where are we starting tonight, then: Good Games or Sports Club?

Edit - Games I'm bringing tonight: Hacienda, Snowdonia, First Train to Nuremberg, Carson City (with Guns & Gold exp).

Definately start at Good Games (not sure I could handle the crazy music of Sports Club all night).

I'll be bringing The Agents (PNP from Kickstarter - unfortunatelynot my best printing effort, but its playable)
- haven't tried Hacienda or Snowdonia so happy to give them a try too.
