So lets say that we are going there tonight.

If we give them a rough player count we can reserve some tables. So please say if you are coming and I will phone at 4pm with an estimate.

If you know contact details for regulars who haven't responded, please email them with the warning.
Andrew - thanks for this - i will be going

Thanks Trev and Andrew for arranging this.
I won't be able to make it tonight.

For what it's worth, parking in the CDB is also set to rise to $5.50 per hour, with 8:30pm being the most common time needed to pay up to.

I'm not sure how many drive to Dockers, but it could be worth considering when weighing up a free venue in the CBD, with one elsewhere that has a cost (but maybe free parking).

I'll text Imantz and Don with details.

Is Linus (or was that Linuz) still around? The Latvian Club was a decent alternative venue some years ago, but that was because he was in charge of the bar or secretary of the Latvian Club at the time. Slight problem was that it was in North Melbourne.

The stuff at NAB could be ongoing for a few months. From what I hear the first people move into the new building in 700 Bourke Street in July but other moves continue until September. Currently there is no official end date for those rooms being used.
No jpegs were harmed in the making of this post.

How was Good Games as a venue last night?

Linas is still around but he isn't as involved in the Lithuanian Club nowadays. The deal there was that a staff member had to be paid to be there (because of the bar) but he did that gratis for us.

Its OK as a venue. Unfortunately they had to close up about 11:15 which was a bit of a bummer.
There were a few other people around who showed some interest in the games we were playing as well.

We were generally of the opinion that as a short to medium term venue it would be good.
I guess the problem is that we don't really know how long Dockers will be out of action (sound like a couple of months at least).

For simplicity i suggest that we meet at Good Games again this week and continue the discussions, see what options people come up with.

Regarding, the council rooms which require payment, can we please get a show of hands for who would be happy with that.

Adrian - I am ok with it of course. Say it is $50, it'd be $5 each if we get 10 people.

I would propose to ask for $5 when we get more people and to build up buffer of funds to cover the slow nights.

Anyway - will ring them again Monday and confirm the latest possible closing time and/or if we can do anything to cover the slow nights. As mentioned, they have a mailing list of 400 Docklands residents they would be happy to socialise the club with.

My vote is for good games,(at least try it) played there once ages ago it seemed ok, however if people decide on the other venue,I think the other venue is on the pricy side, but would still go if thats what everyone decides. I guess the other consideration, is somewhere not in town, I guess the issue is then North, south etc, inner NE would suit me ,Andrew, Dan,but probably not others.

I'll be going to Good Games this week to see how things are there.

That said, I'd be more than happy to pay some sort of cost for a venue if it turns out there are better options.

I'd be fine with Good Games for a while though - I am just cognisant that they are running a business, and feel we ought to be buying games to use up their space. It is very gracious of them to have us at all.

Maybe we could use this opportunity to get our club cards happening again so I can get a discount from them as I shop there fairly often?

My preference would be for Good Games, at least for now. I like the location and parking at Docklands, especially if I'm bringing games, either by train or car, but I think GG may have a better atmosphere and more time flexibility. Also more potential future players on hand.
