List of games to play

Post by Stompy » Thu Jan 10, 2013 10:44 pm

I wanted to start a topic with a view to organising some games to play at dockers - particularly ones that are not part of the regular suite of games played.

If people who are interested list a small number of games they would like to get to the table, then perhaps discussions can start, and particular games booked in.

Here goes my top ones I'd like to arrange to play sometime:
  • Die Macher
    Mare Nostrum (with expansion)
A Game of Thrones - 6 player A Dance with Dragons expansion
Feel free to chime in if anyone wants to play these, or start your own list of games you want to see if others are interested in...

Paul - I'll generally try anything once unless it is something Frank likes (actually not true.. I even like some things he does).

Generally I am looking to play something meaty at Dockers

Stuff I am wanting to play I've not seen at Dockers in my 6 month tenure:
Dominant Species (just picked it up cheap)
Through the Ages

Oh and 9-player Eclipse!

I'd definately like to play Die Macher again (don't have a copy atm however).

Ghost Stories (why are people allergic to this game?)
Junta (always good fun)
Horrorclix (Iestyn?)

I will be there enjoying the air conditioning tomorrow, provided I don't catch fire seriously on the way there from work.

I'm nearly always up for something new.
I'm back from holidays now.

You mentioned Die Macher a few weeks back and ive never played so im certainly keen for that one.

9 player Eclipse could be fun - but we'd want to start that pretty early and book the next day off work :D

Might need 2 rooms as well (or at least steal the extra chairs from one of the others).

Can't make Dockers this week, but on the following week, if people want, I can bring Die Macher.

Actually we got in a game of Die Macher last week.
Tough game. Frank complained a lot & then won :smt005

This week we were thinking Game of Thrones (2nd Edition), so if you cant make it the rest of us actually have a chance of winning

Stompy, I'm glad you started this topic, it's something I've wanted to do for a while, and has got me moving at last.

I have a lot of new games from Essen 2012 (have played and can teach most) and also older/other games I haven't played yet. The list is a bit longer than "a few games", so I've attached a doc file for perusal instead. CORRECTION: No I haven't, can't find an acceptable file extension. Any ideas how to do this?

Hey guys, came to the last one on the 31st, Joshua is the name, had a blast with Villager and Puerto Rico, hope to play Eclipse and Power Grid (and Ticket to Ride and all the similar style, not sure who is behind then and if its similar group, but they seem to use similar type boards based on images online), will see you next week!

Hi Joshua

Extremely different games! I don't think Ticket & Power Grid have much in common except route building. I'll usually be pushing Eclipse around as much as possible while arguing with Frank about whether its an awesome game or a terrible one.

I've played Village a couple of times and really liked it. Killing yourself has never been so much fun!
