MG Tichu Tournament #1 - Congrats to Fraser!

Post by bsmith » Fri Mar 02, 2007 4:03 pm

OK guys, here is the final schedule of play. I've listed the deadline for completion of each round (2 weeks). Of course the quicker the games get played the quicker we get through the competition.

- Both games of each round will be played before progressing to the next round.
- Disagreements which cannot be settled by the players will be settled by the tournament director (me).
- Seating order shall be decided at random using whichever method the players choose.
- Any action which may be construed as giving information to your partner is strictly forbidden. Keep table-talk to a minimum.
- Games are expected to be played at reasonable speed.
- Record all scores at the end of play.
- For each team record the number of:
Tichus bid
Tichus met
Bombs played
( not counted for ranking purposes, purely for bragging rights! )

Enjoy!

Congratulations go to Fraser McHarg for winning the first Tichu tournament!

Schedule of Play & Results
Round 1
Round 2
Round 3
Round 4 Final Standings

I probably will. I'll let Shawn know.

But is there some way the competition time could be shortened?
Maybe we can get through a few rounds at EGF?

Also, perhaps a Final Four tourney?
4th + 1st
vs
2nd + 3rd

Partnership win?

OK, I've made it 4 games per round with two week turnarounds.

I still want to make it a little progressive so we can see at a glance who is winning and losing. Part of the reason there are rounds is so as to reduce the chance that teams will be aiming for a certain score or result. For example if Reggy plays all of his 7 games in the first week then everyone is going to know what sort of target they need in the other games.

We can do a team tournament next time but for now it'll be purely individual ladder.

Win and loss ratio will come first and points will break ties.

Ben

Thanks for organising this Anna.

How will individual scoring work since a team scores points together?

I will be there on the 15th March.

BUT

I will be overseas from 16 April - 5 May. Erm, marriage, honeymoon and all that....

Given you will be away Shawn, is there any chance we can get someone else to take your spot?

Each player on the winning team will be credited with 1 win each. They will each also be given the final score (over 1000 obviously). The losing team members both get a loss and they also get their final score.

So at the end of the tournament everyone will have a number of wins and losses and also a cumulative total score across all games.

But it's win based right?
Otherwise we could have teams 'agreeing' to have a higher scoring game...

Yes Paul. Points just break ties.

Have a great wedding and honeymoon Shawn. I'm so jealous at the thought of you going back to Singapore and eating Spore food.

By the time you'll get back we'll have another bigger tournament for you to join.

Round 2

Anthony/Anna v Doug/Fraser
Paul/Greg v Jon/Kim

Doug/Jon v Fraser/Kim
Greg/Anna v Paul/Anthony

Fraser said that he will definitely be there next week. So all 8 of us can have our round 2 games then have 2 weeks break before round 3.
