SW vs Guns?

Post by hayden » Sat Jul 14, 2007 10:56 am

I've started making my way through the rules to ASLSK#2.

The discussion of Ordnance is not as straight foward as it probably could be. Ah well, that's ASL in a nutshell I guess.

Putting aside TH, what's the main difference between the rules that apply to Guns as opposed to those that apply to SW (and hence the reason why the 2 types of Weapons need to be distinguished)?

There are a few differences Hayden.

- must always have a Covered Arc, they always have a facing.
- may not be carried by units, the only way they can move is to be pushed.
- often have different types of ammo available such as HE, AP, APCR, Smoke etc.
- can choose different fire modes such as Infantry Target Type or Area Target Type.
- may be Emplaced at the start of a scenario giving them a +2 TEM.
- They can often be setup hidden and only placed on the board when they fire.
- They're good for killing tanks... if your opponent happens to stumble into CA!
