Eurogames at the Royal Standard

Another great night at the meetup.com "Eurogames at the Royal Standard" last night. Apparently it was the biggest showing so far, >70 people. I played one long sweet game of "Letters from Whitechapel", with 5 newbies - one (Kristina), volunteering to be Jack the Ripper (or Jackie the Ripress, as she was referred to in the game).

Some of the Dockers regulars that showed up were Chee-Yan, Ian, Frank and Stompy. Next meeting is in two weeks. I'll be there. I encourage y'all to come. It is quite impressive - now that I think of it, it is bigger than any gaming cons I've been too, in number of people playing simultaneoulsy.

I would love to come, but I'm rarely free on Wednesday nights. :(

It's just a fortnight - can you swap a gaming-night Thursday (Dockers) for a Wednesday (Royal Standard) once in a while?

That's what Stompy negotiated with his family :)

Nope. I play in a squash league, and the league plays on Wednesdays.

Should be a full house with 70 confirmed and many regular faces from Dockers, Billabong, EGF who haunt these forums.

Great session. I played 3 games of Android: Netrunner - highly recommended. Just in time too, my copy arrived yesterday.

Don't think I have ever seen so many active copies of The Settlers of Catan in one location other than a tournament before last night, at one stage maybe 4 different games of settlers going on, over and above at least two of Puerto Rico as well as some of the other games including Android: Netrunner, Agricola, Stone Age, Twilight Struggle, Small World, On the Underground, Masons, Saboteur 2 and Carcassonne.

EatRS is back for the new year, tomorrow, Wednesday. 70 people confirmed.

This is a great event, recommend it to anyone who has not been before.

I've taught Android: Netrunner to half a dozen people so far, and everyone has liked it a great deal. We played 3 games at last EatRS, and had many more people ask me to teach them. At Cafe' Games this Saturday I was lucky to meet Daniel, a A:NR enthusiast who I had 4 games with, and we weren't the only ones playing Netrunner that day. I haven't played Magic or any collectible card games in nearly 20 years, and this is the first LCG I have taken up since then - but it is very well worth it.

I can't make it to EatRS next week, sadly, but will bring it along for the following meetup.
