When we find time to play Civilization...

Post by bsmith » Sun Jul 23, 2006 4:43 pm

I recently bought an in-shrink copy of Civ off eBay from the States. When I opened the box I discovered I had received 2 copies of the same half of the map!

So instead of returning the game as suggested by the seller, I got him to re-imburse half the cost then created my own map. I borrowed the file from The Civilization Expansion Project . The guys there have created a *huge* Civ map for 18 players http://67.66.187.69/civproject/.

I just cropped it and returned all the population limits to their original numbers etc. It includes the Western Extension. Came out very nice, I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl!

Where are you going to get 18 players from?

Hayden it's a cropped version of the 18 player map so for all intents and purposes it's exactly the same as the original basic Civ map with the Western Extension added.
I just opened the file with Corel Draw, dragged a box around the bit I wanted then used the crop tool :D

Yep that looks like the standard + Western Expansion to me. Seven players is plenty.

So Ben are you saying you can print off the Western Expansion Map?

Sure, I can print it off but the style is different to the original board so it may look a little weird ( the colors won't match, there are place names, there's no Archaelogical Succession track, border thickness will be different etc. )

I'm also not sure if the size will match on A4 paper but I can check.

Ah, so better to get or scan an original then it sounds like.

I've got an AH Civ (and know somebody who has the complete set).
